Under their apparent diversity, rumours, social memory and propaganda maintain close relations. Subject to the rules of ordinary sociability, they explain how "social thinking" works. Michel-Louis Rouquette's entire work was to describe these rules by trying to account for their particularities and their invariants. The contributors to this book pay tribute to this work and explore its various aspects, the book ending with the transcription of a conference on the theme of propaganda given by M.-L. Rouquette in 2010.
